The journey towards a World Streetlifting Federation continues.
Following the foundations established during the previous working meetings, the WSLF working group has now taken another important step towards turning the vision of a global governing body for Streetlifting into reality.
The latest meeting focused on the federation’s future structure, its statutes, integrity framework and the qualification system for the upcoming season.
The goal remains clear: to develop Streetlifting into a globally recognised, professional and sustainable sport.
Building the Framwork
One of the most important areas of progress is the development of the WSLF Statutes. The statutes will define the purpose, values, responsibilities and governance of the federation while keeping the structure as clear and practical as possible.
The WSLF will be built around four complementary principles:
(1) Democracy & Autonomy
A federation governed by its members and independent in its decision-making.
(2) Integrity & Excellence
A commitment to sporting standards, fair play and a credible anti-doping framework.
(3) Fair Play and Sportsmanship
Including the further development of the Anti-Doping agenda started in 2024.
(4) Transparency & Inclusiveness
An open structure that enables participation and representation across the global Streetlifting community.
The federation’s objectives will cover areas such as international standards, membership and governance, sporting integrity, championships and events, grassroots development and international representation.
Integrity at the Core
A strong and credible sport needs strong structures to protect its integrity. The WSLF is therefore developing a dedicated framework covering legal matters, ethics, disciplinary procedures and anti-doping.
Rather than creating numerous separate bodies from the beginning, these areas will initially be brought together within a Legal Commission. This allows the federation to establish clear responsibilities while remaining flexible as the organisation grows. A particular focus will be the development of the anti-doping framework and cooperation with relevant anti-doping organisations.
The objective is simple: Streetlifting must grow on a foundation of fairness, credibility and trust.
WSLF and FinalRep
Another important principle is the clear distinction between governance and operations: The WSLF will govern the international sport; FinalRep will support its practical implementation.
FinalRep’s role will include education, implementation of sporting standards, digital infrastructure and sport management, including events and the qualification system.
This cooperation provides the federation with an operational foundation while allowing the WSLF to focus on its role as the international governing body.
A Structure built to grow
The future governance structure is also taking shape. The WSLF will include an Executive Board alongside advisory and specialist bodies, allowing different perspectives from across the Streetlifting community to contribute to the development of the sport.
At the same time, responsibilities and decision-making powers will be clearly separated. The structure is designed to be flexible enough to evolve as Streetlifting continues to grow internationally.
The aim is not to build a complicated organisation; it is to build the right organization for the sport we want Streetlifting to become.
The road ahead
There is still work to be done. The statutes need to be finalised, the governance structure completed and the various operational systems put into place. The current timeline aims for the formal foundation of the WSLF in the first quarter of next year, followed by a period of implementation before the first General Assembly.
Step by step, the pieces are coming together. A world federation is not created by a single decision. It is built through clear structures, shared standards, strong people and a long-term commitment to the sport.
The World Streetlifting Federation is taking shape.
