23 – 24.05.2026 | San Marino. The San Marino Open 2026 marked the debut of professional Streetlifting in one of Europe’s smallest nations, and it made every square metre count. Organized by Evolve Training Club and sponsored by Evolve Strength Gear, the competition was held at the Umberto Briganti Gym across two full days, welcoming 68 athletes and 200 spectators for a weekend that exceeded all expectations for a first edition.
Event Overview
The event ran across two days, with Saturday opening at 9:30 AM after a one-hour delay caused by internet connectivity issues, and wrapping up at 9:30 PM, with a 2 hours delay between the two flights. Sunday got off to a cleaner start at 8:30 AM and closed on schedule at 8:00 PM. A team of roughly 20 people managed the full organizational effort, including Valerio Naldi, a prominent athlete, coach, and key figure in Italian Streetlifting, whose involvement added both experience and credibility to the staff. With 68 athletes, the San Marino Open was a genuinely sizeable debut. The competition also featured a livestream production attempt, significant step forward from the underground events that preceded this edition. The full switch to the FinalRep software for competition management was another milestone, representing a complete level up of the event structure.
Highlights and Athletes Performance
The performance that brought the crowd to its feet was Daniele Mariani’s 300kg squat in +101kg, a lift attempted and completed for the first time at this level, generating the kind of atmosphere that defines memorable competition moments.
The competion featured some other massive squats: 242,5kg from Alessio Ceragioli, -73Kg, 282,5kg from Cristiano Bellorini, -87kg.
In the -101kg category, Miguel Tirado Martinez from Spain hit a 45kg muscle-up and a 112.5kg chin-up, establishing himself as the strongest puller on the platform across all categories.
Gianmarco Pironi delivered what the organizers described as a perfect meet in the -66kg class, capping his performance with a 217.5 kg squat and claiming the category win with consistency and composure across all four movements.
Two huge totals form Lucian Stanut in the -87kg with a 566,5kg total, and Marc Nassif with a 585kg total in the +101kg.
On the women’s side, Maragda Puigcerver from Spain topped the -52kg, with a 22,5kg muscle-up.
Organizational Insights
For a debut event, the San Marino Open delivered far more than the bare minimum. The organizers themselves acknowledged that the bar they set was high, and that they came close to clearing it. The technical issue with internet connectivity on Saturday morning caused the only meaningful disruption of the weekend, delaying the start and creating an inconsistent livestream experience for online viewers. Once the competition was underway, the atmosphere more than compensated.
Athlete feedback was particularly strong for the Sunday session, with competitors reporting that they genuinely enjoyed the experience. One minor incident during the event, a spotter fainted, but fortunately nothing serious. The improvements already identified for the next edition are clear: a larger staff dedicated to livestream production and software data entry, and a thorough internet connection check before competition day. The foundation, however, is already solid.
Community Response & Future Outlook
Audience response was positive throughout, with the occasional frustration around Saturday’s delay quickly overcome by the quality of the competition itself. The atmosphere inside the Umberto Briganti Gym was described as genuinely enjoyable, and the feedback from athletes reflected that.
Miguel Tirado summed it up simply:
„The competition was amazing and I had a really good time competing. You guys did a great job.“
Looking ahead, the organizing team already has their sights set on the next milestone: a Worlds qualifier for next year, building on everything learned and earned during this first edition. The intent to grow this into something permanent in the San Marino calendar is clear.
Conclusion
The San Marino Open 2026 was a debut that delivered. Sixty-eight athletes, two days of competition, records on the platform and a crowd that left satisfied. For a nation of 34,000 people, this was a big statement.
Small nation. Big championship. And just the beginning.
We’re proud to be part of this journey. Until next time — Let’s keep pushing the limits together!
